History/Politics of Fibromyalgia

howtohaveabody:

Hi tumblrverse, I’m Gina. I’m a writer and a research/history nerd with fibromyalgia. I am currently working on How To Have A Body, an experimental fiction narrative about the intersections between sexuality, gender, disability, and chronic illness.

I am looking around for the following things:

  • Articles, stories, blog posts, interviews, and whatever else about the history and politics of fibromyalgia as a diagnosis.
  • Articles, stories, blog posts, interviews, and whatever else about the history and politics of fibromyalgia as a diagnosis THAT ARE ACTUALLY WRITTEN/CREATED/PRODUCED/ETC BY PEOPLE WITH FIBRO.

Full disclosure: I’m asking around about these resources because I am wanting to do some of my own writing about the history and politics of fibromyalgia as a diagnosis. I would especially appreciate being pointed towards resources that are pro-patient and, for lack of a better phrase, pro-fibro (I mean this in the sense that many, many medical professionals believe that fibro “doesn’t exist”; I would like to be reading material from folks who actually believe that Fibro Is A Thing That Happens). That said, if you’ve got some especially interesting or juicy or historically/culturally-relevant fibro-denial ephemera, I might be interested in reading it (but please do give me a heads-up about the content if that is what you’re sending my way).

Obligatory question marks: ???
